TravelPal Privacy Policy

TravelPal (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a social travel app that helps travelers and locals connect. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information — email, name, date of birth, gender, role (e.g. tourist/local), city/country, profile photo, and bio.
Content you provide — messages, trip plans, trip photos, testimonials, reports, and identity-verification documents you choose to upload.
Location — if you enable location sharing, we collect approximate or precise location to show you and nearby members on the map.
Device & usage data — device type, app version, push notification tokens, IP address, and basic diagnostics needed to operate and secure the service.
Purchases — subscription/purchase status processed by Apple, Google, and/or RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment card number.

2. How we use information

Create and manage your account and profile
Enable discovery, messaging, map, and matching features
Process Premium purchases and entitlements
Send transactional or service notifications (including push, if enabled)
Moderate safety reports, blocks, and verification requests
Improve reliability, prevent fraud/abuse, and comply with law

3. Sharing

We share information only as needed to run TravelPal:

Other users — profile details you make visible (name, photo, bio, role, location if shared)
Service providers — hosting, databases, push notifications (e.g. Firebase), analytics/crash tools if enabled, and in-app purchase providers (Apple, Google, RevenueCat)
Legal — when required by law or to protect users’ safety and our rights

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data retention

We keep account and content data while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Some records (e.g. purchase history, safety logs) may be retained longer where required for legal, security, or accounting reasons.

5. Your choices

Update profile information in the app
Turn location sharing on or off
Control notification permissions in device settings
Cancel subscriptions via Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings
Request account deletion / data removal by contacting us

6. Children’s privacy

TravelPal is for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, hashed passwords). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. International users

Your information may be processed in countries where we or our providers operate. By using TravelPal, you understand that data may be transferred to those locations.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app means you accept the updated policy.
